For some reason a life insurance company imported some Sycamore trees for its landscape down the road, and everybody freaks out annually when they "die." We are not familiar with that process around here. We have Oak trees, but they are California Live Oaks and don't lose any leaves.
Closest thing we have to deciduation is Camphor trees, one of which I have in my front yard, which lose leaves in the Spring, putting on new leaves at the same time. Jacarandas lose about half of their leaves for the "winter."
