Hooray! I'd say you're definitely in the lead now.
The term "lifeline" evokes memories of a line rigged fore and aft about a foot above the deck when we were maneuvering in heavy weather, to which we were supposed to tether ourselves. It was also prone to trip us up on a regular basis, which evoked much cursing and nautical language. Consensus was that it was better to have a guy or two swept overboard that to be constantly tripping over the stupid "lifeline." That presumed, of course, that it would be some other guy that got swept overboard and not one's self. We were not noted for great clarity of thinking.
